The intellectual and epistemological system of Hafez’s poetry is derived from the culture and thought of the Iranian society and its historical and civilizational stages. Light and its manifestations are among the concepts of paramount importance and relevance in the Iranian and Quranic worldview, whose scope has also been significantly extended to Hafez’s Divan. In the meantime, recognizing and investigating the concept of “light” in Hafez's poetry, its levels (degrees), and its relationship with the Zoroastrian and Islamic/Quranic worldviews remains highly unexplored. Therefore, using a descriptive-analytical method and the library (documentation) approach, this study seeks to answer the question of what levels of light appear in Hafez’s poetry and their relationship to the Zoroastrian worldview and Islamic teachings. The findings indicate that, as an extended, symbolic, and questionable concept, the “light” and its belongings in Hafez’s Divan also encompass its spiritual and intellectual levels in addition to objective and sensible levels of light. In the meantime, the spiritual aspect of light in the Zoroastrian worldview, including fire and glamor, is closely linked to the Quranic and mystical teachings and their elements, such as the manifestation of the Light of Truth or the light of lights. This has given Hafez's poetry magical, permanent, and eternal aspects.
